
Why 'I Don’t Have Enough Time' Just Doesn’t Cut It
Feb 23, 2025We’ve all said it—“I don’t have enough time.” It’s a go-to phrase, an easy explanation for why we haven’t gotten to that yoga class, started that creative project, or taken the time to simply breathe. But let’s be honest: more often than not, when we say we don’t have time, we’re really saying something else.
Maybe it’s, “I don’t want to do this anymore.” Or, “I don’t find value in this.” Perhaps, “I don’t want to put in the effort,” or even, “I don’t feel I deserve this time for myself.” These are the real truths hiding beneath the surface.
Because the reality is, you do have time. Every single day, you fill your hours with something. The question is—what are you filling it with? And is it aligned with what truly matters to you?
Now, I hear you—life is full. Work, family, responsibilities. Some of us are caring for others, working full-time, juggling an endless to-do list. I’m not here to dismiss any of that. But I do invite you to take an honest look at the moments in between. The ones where you scroll through your phone, watch a random show that doesn’t really light you up, or get lost in tasks that don’t actually serve you.
What if, instead, you carved out just 15-20 minutes for yourself? Not for work, not for obligations, but for you. Time to move, breathe, meditate, create—whatever it is that makes you feel good, strong, and alive. You are the only one who can choose this for yourself.
Time is not something we magically find. It’s something we make. And when you truly value something, you will make the time. So the next time you catch yourself saying, “I don’t have enough time,” pause and ask yourself—what am I really saying? And if what you’re filling your time with doesn’t bring you joy, strength, or fulfillment…know that you have the power to change it.
Because you do have time. The question is: how will you use it?
Use some of your time on your mat at Hope Yoga. It truly is time well spent connecting with fellow yogis, coming 10 minutes early to have some quiet time on your mat, to inhale the sacred aromas at our little aroma nook, the Scent Sanctuary, set up a Reiki or massage session or read the many events we have coming up on our flyer boards.
